Volvo Engine D12D AE E3 (Tier 3) Fault Code: SID21 FMI 3 Engine Position
DETECTION CONDITIONS:
The engine control unit (E-ECU) registers that the signal from the speed sensor is missing. (EA45/EA46)
SYMPTOM:
Difficult to start at next start attempt (no symptom if error code is generated when engine is running) .
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
1. Positive cable short-circuited to voltage.
2. Negative cable short-circuited to voltage.
3. Positive cable short-circuited to frame ground.
4. Open circuit on positive cable.
5. Open circuit on negative cable.
6. Incorrectly installed sensor (incorrect distance to sensor gear).
7. Reversed polarity on sensor.
8. Defective sensor.
9. Defective sensor gear.
