PACCAR MX (2004 Emissions) Fault Code: U17D5 CAN Communication – Message (TSC1_SXR) Message Checksum
SET CONDITIONS:
This DTC is set when the checksum of the message does not match the checksum calculated by the receiving component.
DIAGNOSTIC CONDITION:
This diagnostic runs continuously when the ignition is on.
CORRESPONDING OBD READINESS MONITOR:
None
RESET CONDITION:
This DTC will change to inactive immediately after the diagnostic runs and passes.
REPAIR VERIFICATION:
1. Clear all DTCs.
2. Test drive or operate the vehicle to meet the diagnostic conditions and set conditions.
3. Did the DTC come back?
– No, repair successful
– Yes, repair unsuccessful
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
1. External interference of the CAN communication
2. Defective component
3. Software incorrect or incompatible
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
1. A checksum is a calculated value that is sent together with the CAN message for message validation purposes.
2. Safety critical CAN messages are sent with a checksum to make sure that the message is valid, and the content can be accepted.
