PACCAR MX (2004 Emissions) Fault Code: U1011 CAN – Hardware or Software Malfunction on E-CAN

PACCAR MX (2004 Emissions) Fault Code: U1011 CAN – Hardware or Software Malfunction on E-CAN

SET CONDITIONS:
The PCI ECU detects a malfunction on the E-CAN network.

DIAGNOSTIC CONDITION:
This diagnosis runs continuously when the ignition is keyed ON.

CORRESPONDING OBD READINESS MONITOR:
None

RESET CONDITION:
This DTC changes to INACTIVE after the diagnosis runs and passes.

REPAIR VERIFICATION:
1. Clear all DTCs.
2. Test drive or operate the vehicle to meet the diagnostic conditions and set conditions.
3. Did the DTC come back?
– No, repair successful
– Yes, repair unsuccessful

POSSIBLE CAUSES:
1. E-CAN wiring issue
2. E-CAN message overload
3. Malfunction of a smart actuator connected to E-CAN
4. Malfunction of a PCI ECU

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
1. All E-CAN communication traffic is stopped when this DTC is active.

2. U1011 freeze frame data likely contains implausible smart component status values, such as deviations in ‘Requested’ and ‘Actual’ valve positions. In these cases, the PCI ECU is requesting a certain status or value but the smart component is not responding anymore due to E-CAN network shut-down. This does not necessarily indicate an issue with that specific smart component.

3. The E-CAN provides the CAN communication between the PCI ECU (D420) and:
– Humidity sensor (F852)
– VTG turbocharger actuator (L037)
– EGR valve module (L095)
– BPV valve (L096)
