PACCAR MX (2004 Emissions) Fault Code: P2563 VTG Turbocharger Actuator Position – No or Too Slow Movement
PACCAR MX (2004 Emissions) Fault Code: P2563 VTG Turbocharger Actuator Position – No or Too Slow Movement
IMPORTANT: DO NOT re-calibrate the turbocharger actuator before the cause of this DTC has been identified and solved. Re-calibration could lead to engine performance and/or engine brake performance issues.
SET CONDITIONS:
The VTG turbocharger actuator (L037) detects a difference between the requested and actual actuator motor position of more than 8.9%, for more than 35 seconds.
DIAGNOSTIC CONDITION:
This diagnostic runs continuously when the ignition is on, and the actuator temperature is more than 5°C.
CORRESPONDING OBD READINESS MONITOR:
None
RESET CONDITION:
This DTC will change to inactive immediately after the diagnostic runs and passes.
REPAIR VERIFICATION:
1. Clear all DTCs.
2. Test drive or operate the vehicle to meet the diagnostic conditions and set conditions.
3. Did the DTC come back?
– No, repair successful
– Yes, repair unsuccessful
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
1. Temporary blockage of the VTG turbocharger nozzle ring mechanism due to:
– Soot build-up
– Freezing
– Engine start shortly after a hot shutdown
2. Malfunction turbocharger actuator
3. Malfunction VTG turbocharger nozzle ring mechanism
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
1. The VTG turbocharger actuator controls the turbocharger nozzle ring.
2. After this DTC becomes active, P1727 can also become active.
3. Turbocharger actuators are occasionally re-calibrated by a technician in an attempt to solve turbocharger actuator position-related DTCs. This will lead to the turbocharger actuator being calibrated to incorrect end-positions. Incorrect calibration may result in a decrease of engine performance and engine brake performance.
