PACCAR MX (2004 Emissions) Fault Code: P252F Engine Oil Level – Data Valid but Too High, Moderately Severe
SET CONDITIONS:
The PCI ECU (D420) detects that the oil level is too high.
DIAGNOSTIC CONDITION:
This diagnostic runs when the ignition is keyed on and when the oil level stabilization time has elapsed.
CORRESPONDING OBD READINESS MONITOR:
None
RESET CONDITION:
This DTC changes to inactive when the fault is no longer detected.
REPAIR VERIFICATION:
1. Clear all DTCs.
2. Test drive or operate the vehicle to meet the diagnostic conditions and set conditions.
3. Did the DTC come back?
– No, repair successful
– Yes, repair unsuccessful
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
1. Oil overfill
2. Diluted lubrication oil as a result of fuel system leakage
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
1. The oil level is measured in the oil sump by the oil level sensor (F673).
2. The engine oil temperature is measured by the oil temperature sensor (F808).
3. The driver is informed by a yellow warning on DIP.
4. The oil level can be checked with the mechanical dipstick or on the master display.
Actual engine oil level check on the master display:
1. The ignition is keyed on and the engine is not started.
2. Look up the oil level check on the master display.
The actual oil level on the master display is only displayed when the waiting time (ignition off) has elapsed with the associated oil temperature reached at the last engine stop, and

Waiting Time (Minutes): 80
5. Oil Temperature: 60°C [140°F]
Waiting Time (Minutes): 30
6. Oil Temperature: Above 80°C [176°F]
Waiting Time (Minutes): 15
WAITING TIME TABLE 2:
1. Oil Temperature: Below -5°C [23°F]
Waiting Time (Minutes): No measurement possible
2. Oil Temperature: -5°C [23°F]
Waiting Time (Minutes): 120
3. Oil Temperature: 0°C [32°F]

4. Oil Temperature: 40°C [104°F]
Waiting Time (Minutes): 30
5. Oil Temperature: 60°C [140°F]
Waiting Time (Minutes): 20
6. Oil Temperature: Above 80°C [176°F]

IMPORTANT: If the above conditions are not met, the actual oil level is not displayed. A message appears on the display indicating that the oil level cannot be measured. In this case, the last successful oil level check with the corresponding mileage is shown.
