PACCAR MX (2004 Emissions) Fault Code: P1580 Turbo Speed – Data Valid but Too High

SET CONDITIONS:
The PCI ECU (D420) detects that the turbo speed is above 140,000 rpm for more than 20 seconds.

DIAGNOSTIC CONDITION:
This diagnostic runs:
1. When engine speed is below 1900 rpm and
2. The engine is moderately loaded and
3. The VTG turbocharger position is greater than 10%

CORRESPONDING OBD READINESS MONITOR:
None

RESET CONDITION:
This DTC changes to inactive when the fault is no longer detected.

REPAIR VERIFICATION:
1. Clear all DTCs.
2. Test drive or operate the vehicle to meet the diagnostic conditions and set conditions.
3. Did the DTC come back? (Can be pending, inactive or active)
– No, repair successful
– Yes, repair unsuccessful

POSSIBLE CAUSES:
1. Malfunction on the turbo-speed sensor wiring
2. Malfunction on the turbo-speed sensor

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
1. Turbo speed is measured by the turbo speed sensor (F683).
2. Engine torque is reduced when this DTC is active.
