PACCAR MX (2004 Emissions) Fault Code: P0016 Camshaft Speed Signal – Not Corresponding With Engine Position
SET CONDITIONS:
The PCI ECU (D420) detects that the camshaft sensor (F558) signal does not correspond to the crankshaft sensor (F552) signal (engine position) after some engine revolutions.
DIAGNOSTIC CONDITION:
This diagnostic runs during starting.
CORRESPONDING OBD READINESS MONITOR:
None
RESET CONDITION:
This DTC changes to inactive when the fault is no longer detected.
REPAIR VERIFICATION:
1. Clear all DTCs.
2. Test drive or operate the vehicle to meet the diagnostic conditions and set conditions.
3. Did the DTC come back?
– No, repair successful
– Yes, repair unsuccessful
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
1. Air gap too large between the crankshaft sensor (F552) and the flywheel
2. Air gap too large between the camshaft sensor (F558) and the pulse wheel
3. Faulty or soiled crankshaft sensor (F552) and/or camshaft sensor (F558)
4. Damaged flywheel and/or pulse wheel
5. Incorrect timing gear setting (applicable after a repair)
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
1. Crankshaft sensor is used as backup to start the engine.
2. Engine torque is reduced when this DTC is active.
