Detroit DD16 GHG14 (2014-16) Fault Code: SPN 2791 FMI 31 (MCM) Smart Remote Actuator 3 (EGR), Deviation Error 2

DESCRIPTION:
The fault code sets when the Motor Control Module (MCM) detects that the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve position is incorrect.

MONITORED PARAMETER:
EGR position error.

Engine running

MONITOR SEQUENCE:
None

EXECUTION FREQUENCY:
Always enabled

TYPICAL DURATION:
Two seconds

1. MIL
2. CEL

ENGINE REACTION:
None

VERIFICATION:
Engine idle

PROBABLE CAUSES:
1. If any voltage codes exist, fix those first.
2. EGR valve actuator pull rod.
3. EGR actuator.
4. EGR valve.
5. Wiring between the EGR actuator harness and the ECM.
6. ECM failure.
