Detroit DD15 GHG14 (2014-16) Fault Code: SPN 520296 FMI 19 (MCM) Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Actuator, Communication Error

DESCRIPTION:
Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve actuator, intenal test running.

MONITORED PARAMETER:
EGR valve actuator.

TYPICAL ENABLING CONDITIONS:
EGR valve actuator internal self test at start up.

MONITOR SEQUENCE:
None

EXECUTION FREQUENCY:
Continuous when enabling conditions met.

TYPICAL DURATION:
Two seconds

DASH LAMPS:
1. MIL
2. CEL

ENGINE REACTION:
Derate 25%

NOTE: If code 168-1 present, fix that first.

PROBABLE CAUSES:
1. Cranking and/or charging system of the truck.
2. EGR valve actuator pull rod.
3. Inspect for exhaust leaks around the EGR valve, repair as needed.
4. EGR valve failure.
5. Wiring between EGR valve and ECM.
