Detroit DD15 GHG14 (2014-16) Fault Code: SPN 2791 FMI 11 (MCM) Smart Remote Actuator 3 (EGR), Common Error

DESCRIPTION:
The faults code sets when the motor control module (MCM) detects that the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve position is incorrect or a high coolant temperature has been detected.

EGR position

TYPICAL ENABLING CONDITIONS:
Engine running

MONITOR SEQUENCE:
None

EXECUTION FREQUENCY:
Always enabled

TYPICAL DURATION:
Two seconds

DASH LAMPS:
1. MIL
2. CEL

ENGINE REACTION:
None

VERIFICATION:
Engine idle and perform several neutral run ups.

PROBABLE CAUSES:
1. If any voltage codes exist, fix those first.
2. EGR valve actuator pull rod.
3. EGR actuator.
4. EGR valve.
5. Wiring between the EGR actuator harness and the ECM.
6. ECM failure.
