Detroit DD13 EPA07 (2007-09) Fault Code: SPN 4258 FMI 4 (MCM) Injector Amplifier Control Valve Cylinder 1, 2, 3 Shorted to Ground

DESCRIPTION:
This code sets when the MCM detects that there is a short to ground on the circuits for the injector amplifier control valve on cylinders 1, 2, and/or 3.

MONITORED PARAMETER:
Injector amplifier control valve cylinder 1, 2, 3.

TYPICAL ENABLING CONDITIONS:
Fuel injector system nozzle opening pressure reading greater than 1.85.

MONITOR SEQUENCE:
None

EXECUTION FREQUENCY:
Continuous when enabling conditions met.

TYPICAL DURATION:
Two seconds

DASH LAMPS:
1. MIL
2. CEL

ENGINE REACTION:
Derate 25%

VERIFICATION:
Engine rpm 1400-1500: One minute.

PROBABLE CAUSES:
1. Connector outside the valve cover.
2. Under valve cover fuel injector harness.
3. Failed fuel injector #4, #5, or #6.
4. Wiring between the valve cover connector and the 120-pin ECM connection.
5. Failed MCM (Engine ECM).
