Cummins ISB4.5 CM2150 Fault Code: 3163 PID: SPN: 4360 FMI: 13 Aftertreatment Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) Intake Temperature Sensor Swapped – Out of Calibration.

Circuit Description
The SCR temperature sensors are used to monitor the temperatures of the exhaust gas entering and exiting the SCR catalyst.

Component Location
The SCR intake and outlet exhaust temperature sensors are located in the aftertreatment system. The intake temperature sensor is located before the SCR catalyst and the outlet temperature sensor is located at the outlet of the SCR catalyst.

Conditions for Running the Diagnostics
The engine must be turned off for period of 8 hours before this diagnostic will run. This diagnostic runs when the keyswitch is turned to the ON position after an 8 hour cold soak.

Conditions for Setting the Fault Codes
The engine control module (ECM) determines that the temperature readings from the SCR intake and outlet temperature sensors are swapped.

Action Taken When the Fault Code is Active
-The ECM illuminates the amber CHECK ENGINE light immediately when the diagnostic runs and fails.

Conditions for Clearing the Fault Code
-To validate the repair, the engine must be shut down with the keyswitch in the OFF position for a period of 8 hours. After the 8 hour cold soak, start the engine and let it idle for 1 minute to run the diagnostic.
-The ECM will turn off the amber CHECK ENGINE light immediately after the diagnostic runs and passes.
-Use INSITE™ electronic service tool to verify that the fault code is inactive.
-This fault code can also be cleared with INSITE ™electronic service tool.

Possible Causes
-The SCR inlet and outlet sensors are swapped.
-The harness connectors to the SCR inlet and outlet sensors are swapped.

The catalyst temperature sensors must be reading ambient temperature and the engine must be off for a period of 8 hours before this diagnostic will run.
